Before you begin
You will need the following:
- Optimizely Account
- CrossEngage Account
- A website that implements the Optimizely snippet (See Implement the snippet for Optimizely X for more information)
- User data that includes the Optimizely identifier
Set up you Optimizely Account
Set up Dynamic Customer Profiles
Dynamic Customer Profiles (DCP) function as a storage facility for customer data on Optimizely. The data stored there can be used on platforms implementing the Optimizely snippet.
The process for setting up DCPs is explained in the Personalization: Create Audiences with Dynamic Customer Profiles guide on Optimizely. Complete the following steps in the guide:
Create API token
An API token enable CrossEngage to use the Optimizely API. Complete the steps in the Generate an API token in Optimizely Classic guide to generate an API token. You will need this in the CrossEngage integration setup later.
Load user data on to CrossEngage
Configure user attributes
During the DCP setup, you configured a unique ID in step 5 of Add a datasource. You can either create a new trait, or use an existing trait to store the unique ID value. The value used will be configured in the integration setup. Ensure that you set the field when creating a user in the next step.
Users can be loaded on to the CrossEngage platform via the API. The Create & Update Users article shows you how to create users.
