A lead is a user with the following characteristics:
- does not have
externalId: the user has not yet been created as a customer in your system
- does have an
Promoting a lead to a customer
If an existing lead completes registration or submits an order on your website, this person is converted into a normal user.
The process below explains how this is achieved:
- User signs up and receives a customer ID in your system
- Created user is distributed to CrossEngage with a newly created customer ID which is delivered as
- Newly created user is automatically merged with the existing lead in case email address or the combination of
businessUnitmatches. Attributes associated with the lead are preserved and can be accessible within the newly created user profile.
Please note that the above mentioned combination is unique in CrossEngage. Should both attributes not match, user will be treated as a new one and no merging with lead profile will occur.
